Pathway to Premier

ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

The Bond University Rugby Pathway to Premier program is a development program aimed to introduce players to the on field / off field standards and training habits required to compete at the elite levels of rugby.

The program is designed for rugby players aged 15 – 18 years, based on both the Gold Coast and Far North Coast of New South Wales; with the goal to better prepare players for junior representative honours and ultimately compete in premier rugby and beyond.

The program will be all inclusive for players under 15 and above from private, state schools and rugby clubs from South East Queensland and NSW Far North Coast . The program will include:

  • Introductory and advanced strength programs tailored to each player’s needs
  • Professional coaching
  • Position specific coaching (with specialist coaches)
  • Education sessions covering nutrition, goal setting, leadership etc.

 

KEY POINTS OF PREMIER PATHWAY RUGBY

  • This is not a team based squad, places in the squad are not limited by positions
  • Each player in the squad should be aspiring to play representative rugby
  • The key purpose of the squad is to offer individual player development that complements existing teams and programs the player is part of

    • Commit to representing the importance of the Premier Pathway program through your performances at club and school games and by being selected in representative sides

PROGRAM STRUCTURE 

The Bond University Rugby Pathway to Premier program is a long-term development program designed to carry players through to Colts and Senior grade rugby.

The program will run for 10 months of the year, through off season, pre season and in season, with an emphasis on strength, conditioning and skills development, varying depending on the time of the year.

 

Off Season:

 

Monday, from 4pm

 

Wednesday, from 4pm

 

Saturday, from 9am

The first week of training for the off season program will commence in November each year.

There will be a break for Christmas with the program recommencing in January each year. Specific dates and times will be programs to squad members.

After the Easter school holidays, the program will change to an in season program, with one less face to face session per week, due to an increase in school or club rugby commitments.

The in season program will continue through until the end of September each year.

All sessions will take place at Bond University’s world-class training facilities. Venues used will be:

COACHING STAFF

Brenden Jones is the Head Coach of the Premier Pathway program. Brendan has been a professional coach for 15 years. Programs Brendan has coached in include; Brisbane Boys College, St Edmunds Ipswich, RugbyTek Academy and Western District Rugby Club (Brisbane).

Other Bond University Rugby Club coaches, including Premier Grade Coaches Sean Hedger, Adrian Thompson and Grant Anderson, will all be available for sessions throughout the year.

 

COST

A fee of $250 will be charged for these services and use of facilities. This will include a uniform of hat, training singlet and training shirt.
