Bond University Rugby Club

5th July, 2015

In fourth spot, our young Colts team needed a big win to hold off 5th-placed Easts.  If we lost to GPS and Easts, the Tigers could overhaul us and take 4th place.  But 3 first half tries laid the foundations for a convincing bonus points victory.  With Cody Simeon leading the way, our boys led 15-3 at halftime - tries going to Ned Howard, Sam Walsh and Cody.

After the break came the try of the match – starting from their own in-goal, the Bond boys ran the length of the field.  The whole backline handled and Teina Cameron finished it off – although he was running up stairs over the last ten metres!   Possibly Colts try of the season!

Then Josh Hedley made a break and sent Harry Hill away, the fullback scooting 50 metres to score, making it 29-3.

Jeeps scored on the left wing, but immediately Bond hit back when Teina ran down the blind from a scrum to score his second try.  Mitch Scott-Young capped a terrific team effort with the 7th try, after a perfectly-timed pass from Teina.   Fulltime score – Bond 44 GPS 8.

No matter what happens next week against Easts, our boys have qualified for the semi-finals.   Congratulations!
