Bond University were taken down in front of a home crowd for Brothers 47 points to 8 in Round 5 of Hospital Cup Match proving the team has work to do yet.
Bond Uni held possession for most of the half and had speed backing up the forwards from the likes of Ryan Menzies and Corbin Kiernan, yet it was still not good enough to break through Brothers defence.
That is until Pierce Fitzgerald forged himself through the centres with an impressive run leading Bond to a penalty converted by Harry Nucifora which put the away team on the scoreboard first and leading by three.
Fitzgerald proved he was on the field to give it to his former club with another explosive run from kick off, yet it wasn't enough to keep Brothers from scoring their first try only minutes later.
Bond didn’t make it easy for themselves giving away back to penalties allowing Brothers to make it up the field and pressure on to defend the try line until Brothers snuck in another try.
Winger #14 allowed Bond Uni to finish the first half with only a few points between the teams, proving they were still in the fight and aiming to finish on top.
Referees were keeping a close eye on scrums saying to players they needed to be tightened up in the second half.
“They [players] just seem to be loose on the outside not engaging a little bit.” the referee said.
Bond Uni came out swinging in the second half with kick off and possession, but Brothers just weren’t having it and continued to put numbers on the board against the away team proving that they were not going to disappoint their supporters.
Despite strong runs by the likes of Calum Ball, this was the story for the rest of the match and a win was not on the cards for Bond Uni.
