For a side that lost 81-0 to Sunnybank in the 5th round, our Colts 1 team has made a remarkable transformation. They now lie equal fourth on the table after smashing Easts by 43-10 and some of their play was worthy of Premier Grade.
For the second game in a row their lineout/rolling maul try was executed to perfection – an accurate throw taken off the top and down to the back of the maul and, with two backs joining in, driving over the line. Speedy Demetrius Tamai scored a hat-trick and the other tries went to Luka Lewis, Ethan Singh, Kyle Cullen and Callum Elliot.
The features of their play were the teamwork and vastly-improved set piece, with accurate lineout throwing and a dominant scrum. When you consider that most of the team are still in grade 11 or 12, you realize we have the makings of a premiership side in the next couple of seasons.
In his run-on debut at flyhalf, Mitch Currie was impressive, while Harry Bull, Bodie Edwards and Callum Elliott all played well.
