After a slow start our Premier Colts finished strongly to beat Easts 31-8, scoring 4 tries to 1.   It could have been more, but for some sloppy handling from our backs – Reece Tapine and Kuti Tahau both blowing tries through pushing passes.  Nevertheless it was a much-improved effort especially in the second half, when we scored an unanswered 21 points.

In a fine team performance, two things stood out – Josh Walker’s brilliant individual try and Nathan McPherson’s amazing goal-kicking.   Walker received the ball 10m from the line and, with uncanny stepping, beat 4 defenders to score.   With talent like that – just give him the ball more often!    And Nathan’s effort with the boot, landing 5 from 5, included 3 from the sideline, was outstanding.

The other tryscorers were Tyler Gillott, Reece Tapine and Kuti Tahau.  It was good to see Tom McKee back after injury, leading by example and Josh Vuta goes from strength to strength at halfback.
