After a hammering by Sunnybank last week, our Premier Colts proved their mettle with a hard-fought win over Easts 24-14.   Big Jack Pickering went over for the first try from close range to open the scoring and John Nucifora converted from the sideline.  7-0 to Bond.

A lack of urgency saw Easts draw level.  A ball was toed through into our in-goal and, while our players looked at each other, an Easts flanker dived on the ball for a try.  Nucifora landed a penalty on halftime to make it 10-7 to Bond.  Running into a gusty wind in the second half it didn’t seem enough.

However our forwards laid the platform for 2 tries by elusive winger, Josh Walker.   The first came after 3 dominant scrums and “K.P” had enough room to dazzle the defence with his footwork.   The second came after a purple patch of play by our pack, going close several times and gave us a handy cushion 24-7.

Easts came back with a try on fulltime under the posts (although the female referee was too slow to keep up with play and missed a blatant forward pass.)   However it didn’t matter – Bond convincing winners 24-14.
