Against a team that had their measure in the first round and with a shortage of front-rowers, our Reserve Grade showed a lot of character in winning 41-15. After their impressive win over GPS last week, the Reggies are building towards a second premiership, leap-frogging Souths into fourth place on the table.
The team scored 7 tries in one of their biggest wins this season. Brandon Anae, Rory McKenzie, Luke Evans, James Uhatafe, Oscar Dennis and Harry Hill scored tries and, in one of his best games, Justin Bernstein scored a try and kicked 3 goals.
The boys face a demanding week ahead, with a game against ladder-leaders, Brothers in Toowoomba on Saturday and a deferred game against 3rd placed UQ at St Lucia the following Tuesday. Thankfully, they have the bye before the final round game against Wests at Robina. One thing in their favour, if Premier Grade miss the finals, would be the number of players who would be eligible for the finals in Reserve Grade. They’re certainly heading the right way, improving with every outing after a slow start.
