On a sandy paddock of a field at Yoku Road, our Colts 1 started like draught-horses but finished like thoroughbreds. Red-headed centre Struan Robertson dived over for a fine try to give Bond the lead but GPS pick and drove to score under the posts and it was 7-all at halftime.
After a pep-talk from Roscoe and Ray though, there was less kicking and more urgency in the second half. From a dominant scrum, livewire halfback, Nick Sanguinetti darted to a wide blindside, dummied, and sprinted through the gap to score.
Hard-working hooker Kyle Cullen hit and spun to score the third try and finally Brook Froggo worked an “Apples” move to perfection – from a clean lineout take he swept around the front, accepted the ball and raced 10m to score in the corner. That clinched the bonus point, keeping Bond in second place on the table, 4 behind Brothers and 11 ahead of 3rd placed Sunnybank.
